Investigating green finance’s impact on urban economic resilience is crucial for building a rational green financial system and boosting urban economic resilience. Using panel data of 287 Chinese prefecture-level cities from 2011 to 2021, this study quantifies urban economic resilience and green finance development, and employs a panel fixed-effects model to explore green finance’s effect and mechanisms on urban economic resilience. The results show that green finance positively affects urban economic resilience, with regional heterogeneity. We suggest tailored green finance development, advancing urban industrial transformation, and leveraging green finance’s positive impacts to foster urban economic resilience.
